It started as

…an idea conceived by a two-time survivor of leukemia who was intent on raising money for a local organization that saves the lives of children with leukemia. It began in 2018 as Climb for a Cure, and raised more than $100,000 for the cause, attracting a community of generous donors and sponsors. Soon joined by friends, including others touched by the scourge of this tragic disease, it became Swing for a Cure 2021, a local golf tournament that raised still more. Thanks to sponsors, donors, and participants, it was a tremendous success.

Vision

For a Cure is a charitable organization whose purpose is to raise funds for Seattle Children’s Hospital High-Risk Leukemia Program, its patients and their families.

Mission

The costs for cancer research as well as patient and family care are staggering. Less than 4% of all cancer research funds go toward researching childhood cancers. For A Cure exists to increase awareness of and funding for the Children’s Hospital HRL program. We will accomplish our goals by hosting high-quality, community-based events such as golf tournaments, bike rides, hikes, fun runs, etc., where we connect community members to the doctors, nurses and researchers involved with the HRL program and to the families who have been impacted by their work.

Our partner and beneficiary is Seattle Children’s Hospital, and it’s High-Risk Leukemia Program, one of the flagship cancer research organizations in the world, and ground zero for state-of-the-art cancer treatment.  Not surprisingly, such care is complex and expensive as it:

  • Conducts comprehensive clinical trials.
  • Employs world class practitioners.
  • Maintains total case management including support for the families whose lives have been upended by such a devastating diagnosis.

Our vision for this effort is inspired by the stories of families and friends who’ve been touched by the experience of this disease.  Through efforts like Swing for a Cure, we can all make a difference; we can give them a fighting chance, and a reason for hope.  Please consider a generous contribution.

Things work out best for those who make the best of how things work out.
